Strictly Come Dancing's Amy Dowden Reveals Health Battle

Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden has bravely shared her health battle after contracting sepsis following her first appearance on the show in 2017. The dancer spoke to Behnaz Akhgar on BBC Breakfast about the ordeal, which she said was so severe that she was hours from death.
Fighting for Survival
Dowden explained that the sepsis came on suddenly and aggressively, with her initially thinking it was just a virus. However, she was soon rushed to the hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery to remove her appendix and part of her bowel. "I was hours from death," she said. "I was so poorly, my organs were failing."
Dowden praised the NHS staff who saved her life, and said that she is grateful for the support of her family and friends. She also expressed her determination to return to Strictly Come Dancing, saying that she is "not giving up."
